Global Power Forum

IHS CERA’s Global Power Forum®  provides the highest quality, independent insights on the most pressing strategic issues facing the electric power industry and facilitates productive dialogue among IHS CERA experts and senior-level executives. The Forum has been designed specifically to meet the needs and interests of the power industry’s top executives.

IHS CERA established the Global Power Forum® in 1996 at the request of clients who were seeking an informational, senior executive–level environment in which to explore the critical issues facing the international power community. Today the Forum provides highly respected, authoritative, and objective analysis and fosters interactive discussion on the most crucial opportunities and risks facing electric power executives and their companies. The Forum convenes Global Power Summits—held each spring in Europe and each fall in North America—and provides its members with world-class research and insights.

  • Service Benefits

IHS CERA’s Global Power Forum® offers four fundamentally unique elements:

    • Gathering. The Summits gather a senior community of global power executives, along with IHS CERA’s senior industry experts, in a private, neutral, “club”-style setting.
    • Message. Backed by IHS CERA’s 20+ years of experience in analyzing the energy sector, the Summits provide a platform for delivery of thought-provoking analysis of the strategic issues shaping the electric power business.
    • Exchange. The unique venue offers the opportunity for both formal and informal exchange, debate, and dialogue among the participants and IHS CERA experts.
    • Character. Summits are characterized by a highly focused but relaxed atmosphere in which all details—ground transportation, meals, entertainment, social activities, and other amenities—are arranged by IHS CERA, thereby enabling participants to focus on the important matters at hand.

    Global Power Forum Summits

Unlike other IHS CERA services, the Forum’s principal deliverable is its Global Power Summits, held each spring in Europe and each fall in North America. These Summits bring together a diverse community of top industry leaders in a unique atmosphere of collegiality that allows participants to interact with executives whom they might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet. Summit sessions are led by IHS CERA’s seniormost experts and provide the “best of” IHS CERA’s current electric power research as well as key power-related insights from leaders of IHS CERA’s power and fuels teams. Meetings are designed to facilitate frank, off-the-record discussion and debate of issues at the heart of the power business. The Summits enable top executives to develop greater understanding of industry trends and issues essential to generating effective and profitable business strategies.

Topics addressed at the Summits span the spectrum of key drivers and imperatives that influence and shape strategic decision making in the electric power sector (e.g., management, finance, economy, regulation, environment, fuels, and technology) across the entire electric power value chain.

Typical attendees at Summits include top executives from major power companies and merchant energy developers, as well as engineering and construction firms, equipment manufacturers, integrated energy and major oil companies, and financial services (investment banking, private equity, insurance, and law) firms.
